On January 15, WestLake Smoky Mountains Technologies signed a Micro-LED chip project in Deqing County, Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, as reported by the official WeChat account of Deqing County. The project will be established in the Mogan Mountain High-tech Zone of Lin Hang Industrial New District (Lei Dian Town).
The project is led by WestLake Smoky Mountains Technologies (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., which was founded in May 2022. The company focuses on the research and development of full-color AR/VR high-density Micro LED chips, utilizing wafer-level tricolor thin-film integration (including inorganic thin film manufacturing, stripping, and stacking) to achieve key technological advantages such as RGB inorganic full-color, low-temperature wafer integration, and simplified processes to improve yield.
In addition, WestLake Smoky Mountains Technologies is making strategic moves in both micro-display and direct-view fields. Its micro-display customers include BYD, Goertek, Rokid, RayNeo, and more, while its direct-view customers include Samsung, BOE, TCL CSOT, Tianma, and others.
It is worth noting that this signing marks the third Micro LED micro-display chip project to be established in Deqing County, following the projects of Hongshi Intelligence Technology and Innovision. Deqing County will continue to develop into a hub for the Micro LED industry.
