Recently, Leyard and Tianma have made significant strides in their Micro LED projects, with updates on delivery and production line construction, continuing to accelerate the growth of their Micro LED businesses.
Leyard: Delivery of 127㎡ MIP Micro LED Screen
Leyard has recently delivered China’s first ultra-large P0.7 Micro LED display screen to the Port Command and Dispatch Center of National Energy Group Huanghua Port. The screen, measuring 127㎡, employs Leyard’s new-generation MIP technology and boasts a resolution of 32,256 x 6,480.
MIP is one of Leyard’s main Micro LED packaging routes. Leyard believes that as chip sizes continue to shrink, the advantages of MIP packaging will become more pronounced. In 2024, Leyard plans to invest in a new factory in the Huli District of Xiamen, focusing on the development of next-generation high-end Micro LED packaging technologies. The plan includes setting up multiple MIP production lines to research and develop technologies for substrate-free Micro LED mass transfer, soldering, and cutting, and to produce MIP products ready for mass production, aiming for sustained high growth in Micro LED (MIP, COB) business.
In terms of products, Leyard will introduce high-end MIP products using chips smaller than 50μm in 2024, further driving down the cost of Micro LED products. Additionally, Leyard is collaborating with leading panel companies in the industry to develop COG Micro LED products for glass-based Micro LED displays.
Tianma: Xiamen Micro LED Production Line Achieves Full Process Integration This Year
Tianma recently announced during an investor Q&A session that its Xiamen full-process Micro LED production line will achieve full process integration and small-batch shipping capabilities this year.
The Xiamen Micro LED project, with a total investment of 1.1 billion RMB, is a full-process Micro LED production line, from mass transfer to display modules. At the end of last year, the first equipment was moved into the project, marking the transition from construction and equipment procurement to installation and debugging.
Tianma stated that the Xiamen project will focus on automotive displays as a key application area, enhancing the company’s overall solutions for automotive displays, advanced automotive display technology research and development, and commercialization of cutting-edge technologies. The company will continue to strengthen its short-, medium-, and long-term technological advantages.
In addition to production line construction, Tianma is accelerating the development of Micro LED technologies and processes, having made breakthroughs in high transparency, curved surfaces, narrow bezels, and adjustable transparency. The company is also initiating new projects in collaboration with leading global automotive manufacturers, top domestic PID terminal manufacturers, and leading consumer brand customers.
