Progress on Production Lines
Tianma recently announced during an institutional visit that the construction of its new production line is progressing smoothly. The TM19 line will have its core equipment installed in 2023 and is expected to light up shortly, beginning trial production. The TM20 line aims to light up its first product by December 2023, with ongoing sample deliveries and trial production. Additionally, the Micro-LED production line will see its first equipment installed by the end of 2023, with illumination expected soon.
Investment Details
The total investment for Tianma’s full-process Micro-LED experimental line project is $1.5 billion, with a registered capital of $750 million for the joint venture. Shenzhen Tianma A has invested $270 million for a 36% stake in the joint venture; Tianma Display Technology has contributed $180 million for a 24% stake; other partners have collectively invested $300 million, holding a total of 40% of the joint venture.

In its announcement, Tianma stated that the project aims to become an industry-leading platform for Micro-LED technological innovation, product application development, and an open platform for scientific research outcomes. By collaborating with end customers, research institutions, and suppliers across the industry chain, the company seeks to bridge academia and industry, accelerating breakthroughs in the entire engineering technology chain from Micro-LED display fundamentals to system integration and application, facilitating the commercialization of Micro-LED technology.

Building a customized full-process Micro-LED experimental line will significantly shorten the technology development cycle, enhance R&D efficiency, and explore the future mass production feasibility of the overall process, providing robust support for subsequent technological commercialization.
