On June 26, Tianma, a leading display technology company, officially launched its “DREAM” automotive display technology at the SID 2023 exhibition held last month. The company showcased a 27-inch automotive display, the DREAM Automotive Display, featuring innovative new technology.
DREAM, an acronym for Display with Radius 5000, Ensconcing under the dashboard, Anti-spy, Mini LED technology, represents the cutting-edge capabilities of Tianma’s new automotive display, which includes an invisible display, switchable privacy protection, Mini LED, a curved large screen, and integrated touch functionality.
Invisible Display with DREAM Technology
The DREAM technology hides the screen display interface and interactive functions under the vehicle’s interior decoration. When the user needs to access the screen, it can be easily activated by a touch or voice command, revealing all necessary information. When not in use, the DREAM technology automatically powers off the display, blending seamlessly with the surrounding interior, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the vehicle.
Switchable Privacy with Advanced CIMUS Technology
For privacy, DREAM technology integrates Tianma’s proprietary CIMUS viewing angle switching technology. This system uses a viewing angle control box with dynamic backlight control to switch between privacy and sharing modes, ensuring the driver remains focused on the road while others are unable to view sensitive information.
Mini LED for Superior Display Performance
In terms of display quality, DREAM technology utilizes Mini LED backlight to significantly reduce power consumption while offering a dynamic contrast ratio exceeding 200,000:1. This ensures clear and vivid presentation of navigation maps, entertainment content, or vehicle information.
Curved Large Screen for Enhanced Interaction
The DREAM automotive display technology supports full-size screens ranging from 17 to 40 inches with a screen curvature of R5000, enhancing interaction between the driver and the display while seamlessly integrating with the vehicle’s interior.
Integrated Touch Capabilities with TED Technology
The DREAM technology also incorporates TED-integrated touch functionality, enhancing touch sensitivity and enabling users to quickly access navigation, entertainment, and vehicle information.
Tianma’s Strategic Focus on Automotive Displays
As a core player in automotive displays, Tianma continues to refine its existing solutions, focusing on technologies like automotive Mini LED, adjustable privacy displays, audio-visual privacy, BaldrSys (head-up displays), and ultra-narrow bezels to meet evolving market and customer needs.
Tianma’s Mini LED automotive products have already entered mass production. In 2023, Tianma will adhere to its “2+1+N” strategy, concentrating on new energy vehicle businesses and the Chinese automotive display market. The company aims to expand rapidly in the automotive LTPS and large-screen sectors, boost the competitiveness of its Mini LED products, and strengthen its position in OLED technology.
Significant Investment in Display Production
Tianma’s new display production line project in Wuhu, with a total investment of $1.1 billion, has reached its construction milestone ahead of schedule. This project primarily targets the automotive display, IT display (tablets, laptops, monitors, etc.), and industrial product display markets. Mass production is set to commence in 2024, with full production expected by 2027. Once fully operational, the facility will have a planned monthly capacity of 5.2 million display modules, generating an annual output value of approximately $1.64 billion.
Strengthening Position in the Display Industry
As the production project progresses rapidly, Tianma continues to accelerate the development of its core businesses, particularly automotive displays, solidifying its leadership in the display field.
