On January 3rd, SmileLighting officially launched the first phase of its Mini LED production line at the Backlight & Direct-Display Industrial Park in Guangdong, marking a significant milestone in SmileLighting’s development in the Mini LED backlight industry.
About the Project
SmileLighting purchased 80 acres of land in Guangdong to build its industrial park, with a primary focus on the Mini LED backlight and direct-display project. The project has a total investment of ¥800 million ($110 million), covering an area of approximately 53,300 square meters and a building area of around 117,000 square meters. The park will feature 9 factory buildings, 2 dormitories, and 1 office and R&D building. Once completed, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of ¥2.1 billion ($290 million) and annual tax revenues of ¥63 million ($8.7 million).
According to official WeChat information, the SmileLighting Industrial Park is equipped with class-100,000 clean rooms, industry-leading automation (with over 95% automation) in the Mini LED COB/POB backlight production lines and CSP LED production lines. It also has an advanced MES system and electronic dashboards, along with comprehensive R&D and quality testing labs. In addition, the company has received various certifications, including ISO9001 quality management system certification and IATF16949 automotive industry quality management certification.
Construction of the SmileLighting Industrial Park started in 2023, with the entire project expected to be completed and fully operational by 2025. Key milestones in the project’s timeline are as follows:
- May 2022: SmileLighting Industrial Co., Ltd. acquired industrial land in Huizhou.
- September 2023: SmileLighting’s Mini LED backlight and direct-display project began construction in Guangdong.
- August 2024: The first phase of the SmileLighting Industrial Park reached its topping-out stage.
- January 3, 2025: The Mini LED production line in the first phase of the industrial park was officially lit up.

Guangdong SmileLighting Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. is an integrated optoelectronics technology company that specializes in R&D, production, and sales. The company focuses on the development and application of Mini LED COB and POB backlight products and Mini LED direct-display products. Its main products include TV and monitor backlights, automotive display backlights, 3C digital product LED strips and backlights, and Mini LED COB displays.
