Overview: Six Companies Embrace Micro LED Technology
Recently, six companies—Colorlight, DelphiLaser, HYC, NVM, WG Tech, and GQY Video—have entered the Micro LED industry. Each company plays a unique role in this rapidly growing field, from display control systems and production equipment to LED display products, driver chips, and glass substrates.
Colorlight: Developing Micro LED Testing Equipment
Colorlight specializes in professional display control products, offering three main categories: LED display control systems, video processing equipment, and cloud-connected media players. These products enable functions such as display control, image editing, and data transmission.
Leveraging proprietary AI algorithms, Colorlight has developed intelligent core testing equipment for Mini/Micro LED displays, known as Mica. This system, using machine vision, intelligent color correction, and brightness perception algorithms, automates the entire process of Micro LED display calibration, enabling unmanned management.
DelphiLaser: Micro LED Laser Removal and Repair Equipment Delivered
DelphiLaser focuses on the development, production, and sale of advanced industrial laser processing equipment and core components such as lasers.
In the Micro LED field, DelphiLaser has introduced a complete range of solutions, including laser removal, mass transfer, laser repair, and mass welding. Currently, its Micro LED laser removal and repair equipment have been delivered to customers and generated revenue. Meanwhile, its Micro LED mass transfer laser equipment has secured orders from top-tier clients.
HYC: Supplying Micro LED Testing Equipment to End Customers
HYC is a leading domestic provider of testing equipment and integrated testing systems, specializing in the research, production, and sale of inspection equipment for flat panel displays and integrated circuits.
HYC has invested in R&D across the Mini LED, Micro LED, and Micro OLED segments. Its Micro LED testing equipment has been delivered to end customers for trial validation, including VISTAR and Konka. HYC’s optical testing systems for Micro LED are primarily used to inspect brightness, chromaticity, wavelength, missing or misaligned LEDs after mass transfer.
NVM: Developing Micro LED Driver Chips
NVM focuses on the research, design, and sale of display chips, aiming to provide complete solutions for display chip systems. Its product portfolio includes integrated display chips, discrete display driver chips, and power management chips for display screens.
One of NVM’s key projects, the “Shanghai Advanced Display Chip R&D Center,” is dedicated to developing high-pixel-density Mini/Micro LED driver chips as well as advanced display chips for VR/AR applications. The project is progressing as planned, with the goal of accelerating the development of NVM’s high-density Mini/Micro LED and advanced display chips.
WG Tech: Supplying Glass Substrates for Micro LED
WG Tech is a technology-driven company focusing on the research, production, and sale of core precision components in the optoelectronics and semiconductor sectors. With years of independent research, it has developed techniques for glass substrate thinning, thick copper metallization, TGV multilayer copper stacking, and CPI/PI composite material synthesis.
In the Mini/Micro LED space, WG Tech is focusing on the development and application of glass-based COG (chip-on-glass) solutions, while advancing TGV technology for use in Micro LED direct displays and advanced semiconductor packaging.
WG Tech’s glass substrate production line, with an annual capacity of five million square meters for Mini/Micro LED, completed construction in 2023. The first phase, with an annual output of one million square meters, began automated production in October 2023. The company has since entered the early mass production stage and is collaborating with several industry-leading clients on various projects, targeting applications in displays, TVs, and automotive markets.
In October 2022, WG Tech and Leyard jointly launched the world’s first PM-driven glass-based Micro LED UHD home cinema screen, aimed at offering cost-effective Micro LED products and driving the technology’s adoption in the consumer market.
GQY: Selling Micro LED Video Wall Solutions
Ningbo GQY specializes in large-screen intelligent display solutions. Its products and services span large-screen splicing display systems, high-resolution visualization systems, and system integration. The large-screen splicing display systems include Mini/Micro LED video walls, DLP splicing, and LCD splicing products.
In 2023, GQY generated revenue of 135 million RMB, with 119 million RMB coming from large-screen splicing display systems and 15 million RMB from system integration services.
