On March 17, Samsung held its 2024 appliance launch event, unveiling its latest range of products, including Mini LED, Micro LED TVs, and other smart appliances.
AI for All: Samsung’s Vision and Product Upgrades
At the event, Samsung shared its corporate vision, “AI for All,” and introduced products, including the new Micro LED, Neo QLED 8K/4K series, OLED TVs, and BESPOKE home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines. All these products integrate AI, to create a futuristic, AI-driven home environment that blends technology and art.
For example, the Neo QLED 8K TV QN900D is powered by Samsung’s new “NQ8 AI Gen3” chip, which the company calls its most powerful TV processor to date. Compared to its predecessor, this chip offers a 200% improvement in neural processing unit (NPU) performance and a 140% boost in GPU performance, with the number of neural networks increasing from 64 to 512.
Thanks to the NQ8 AI Gen3 chip, the QN900D delivers superior picture quality, enhanced by 8K AI image upscaling, AI Dynamic Pro, and AI 3D Depth Pro technologies. Coupled with AI-based audio tuning through OTS Pro (Object Tracking Sound) and AVA Pro (Active Voice Amplifier), the TV offers an immersive audiovisual experience.

AI-Powered OLED and Micro LED Advancements
The newly launched OLED TVs feature Samsung’s next-generation NQ4 AI Gen2 chip, which enhances image detail and color accuracy with intelligent color mapping, anti-glare technology, and a brightness enhancer. These OLED TVs, certified by PANTONE, also feature dynamic acceleration, supporting up to 4K 144Hz refresh rates for smooth gameplay.
In the Micro LED TV category, Samsung expanded its offerings to include 114-inch and 76-inch models, alongside the already available 101-inch and 89-inch options. Using a Micro AI processor, the TV’s intelligent image processing instantly analyzes and optimizes content across more than 20 million tiny LED chips (for the 89-inch model), delivering breathtaking visual effects. Integrated OTS Pro technology further synchronizes sound and visuals, with the “Q-Symphony” feature enabling synchronized audio output from both the TV and soundbar, elevating the home entertainment experience.
AI-Powered Home Ecosystem
Samsung has made strategic investments in AI over the years. During the event, Samsung Electronics Greater China President Choi Seung-sik emphasized that Samsung is incorporating AI into its connected technology, from Galaxy AI in mobile devices to groundbreaking display technology and smart home appliances, aiming to deliver tangible benefits to users.

AI-Driven Innovation in the TV Industry
The incorporation of AI into TV products has become a common strategy for major brands. Aside from Samsung, TCL launched the QD-Mini LED TV X11H on March 5, featuring its proprietary TSR independent image enhancement chip, which complements the Lingyao M2 chip to enhance picture quality through 3D enhancement, rich color rendering, and detailed resolution.
Similarly, on March 15, Hisense unveiled the ULED X series with an AI-driven full-scene picture quality platform and flagship models, boasting features like 40,000 zones, 10,000-nit peak brightness, and a 165Hz refresh rate. Changhong also introduced its first 8K mural TV at the AWE 2024 event in Shanghai, powered by its own AI platform with unique features like AI split-screen and CHiQ assistant.
AI is reshaping the TV ecosystem, driving advancements in human-computer interaction and image processing, ultimately providing users with a richer visual experience.
