Recently, Samsung showcased its prototype Micro LED watch at CES 2025. The watch features a 2.1-inch display (418x540px @ 326ppi) and boasts a brightness exceeding 4,000 nits, with production potentially starting in the fourth quarter of this year.

It has been revealed that the chip supplier for this product is San’an Optoelectronics, with PlayNitride being a potential supplier.
The commercialization of Micro LED is steadily accelerating. For instance, in September last year, Garmin announced plans to release the Fenix 8 Micro LED watch. TAG Heuer also has similar plans, and both companies are sourcing Micro LED panels externally. The products from companies like Samsung are expected to advance collaboration in the Micro LED watch sector.

Although the cost of Micro LED remains relatively high, its use in smartwatches designed for semi-outdoor environments is one of the key areas for commercialization. Core manufacturers, including AUO, Samsung, Konka, and TCL CSOT, have all showcased Micro LED watches:
- Konka: Released the 2-inch Micro LED watch APHAEA Watch in 2020.
- TCL CSOT: Exhibited a 37-inch Micro LED watch in 2021.
- AUO: Launched a mass-produced 39-inch Micro LED smart watch at Touch Taiwan 2023.
- TAG Heuer: Has already achieved mass production of Micro LED smartwatches.
- Samsung: Displayed the Micro LED watch at CES 2025.
In addition, although Apple abandoned its Micro LED watch plans at the beginning of 2024, sparking much discussion in the industry, there are speculations that Apple might not completely abandon its Micro LED agenda. With the accelerating commercialization of Micro LED technology, Micro LED smartwatches are expected to see significant breakthroughs by 2025.
