Recently, the national standard LED Displays – Part 3-1: Optical and Optoelectrical Parameter Test Methods for Micro-LED Display Devices, led by Chengdu VISTAR Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., was officially approved for establishment. This is one of the first national standards in China’s Micro-LED field addressing key technological performance testing methods.

Since its establishment, VISTAR has been dedicated to the independent research and industrialization of TFT-based Micro-LED display technology. In particular, VISTAR has taken the lead in the development of the national standard titled “LED Displays – Part 3-1: Micro-Light Emitting Diode (Micro-LED) Devices – Testing Methods for Optical and Optoelectronic Parameters.” This standard, which covers several parameters, such as reverse leakage current, long-range brightness uniformity, long-range chromaticity uniformity, short-range brightness uniformity, and LED optoelectronic efficiency, provides a more comprehensive characterization of Micro-LED arrays and displays. It significantly complements the existing methods for evaluating the picture quality of Micro-LED displays.
The establishment of this national standard will push the Micro-LED industry forward from multiple perspectives:
Industry Standardization:
The release of this standard provides enterprises with a unified and authoritative technical framework, allowing research and development teams to precisely focus on core technical indicators and key performance parameters. It reduces trial-and-error costs and improves research and development efficiency. Moreover, it establishes a clear target framework for technological innovation and achieving results transformation.
Enhanced Efficiency Across the Industry Chain:
The establishment of a standardized system effectively eliminates communication barriers caused by differences in technical understanding and inconsistent specifications within the industry chain. Manufacturers of chips, packaging companies, and display module manufacturers can now collaborate efficiently under unified standards. From ensuring the consistent quality of raw materials to optimizing production processes and achieving uniformity in product specifications and performance, the entire process benefits from a collaborative, systematic effect.
Foundation for Market Promotion:
A unified technical standard lays a solid foundation for the consistency of terminal product specifications. It enhances product compatibility and recognition in the market. By implementing standardization, it reduces the cost of adapting new technologies for users and strengthens the overall competitiveness of the industry. This creates favorable conditions for the mass application and market promotion of Micro-LED technology.
Looking ahead, VISTAR will continue to adhere to its mission of “leading the Micro-LED industry through technological innovation.” Through technological development and standardization efforts, VISTAR aims to contribute to the high-quality development of China’s emerging display industry.
