Micro LED technology company Porotech has recently partnered with U.S.-based ClassOne Technology to advance the development and production of GaN products on silicon wafer substrates. This collaboration will leverage ClassOne’s Solstice single-wafer platform, renowned for its efficiency and high-performance capabilities in the semiconductor industry.
ClassOne Technology’s Contribution to Micro LED Innovation
ClassOne Technology, a leading supplier of advanced electroplating and wet processing equipment, specializes in critical wafer fabrication processes for compound semiconductor devices. Its technologies find applications across diverse fields such as photonics, power, 5G, Micro LED, and MEMS. The Solstice platform is particularly valued in the Micro LED sector for its rapid electroplating speed and high throughput, which have significantly improved production yields and device performance for Micro LED display manufacturers.
Previously, ClassOne supplied its Solstice S4 single-wafer electroplating system to Micro LED startup Raxium in 2022, aiding in the development and manufacture of Micro LED microdisplays. In 2023, ClassOne continued its support for the Micro LED industry by fulfilling follow-up orders for its Solstice S8 system from a major Micro LED manufacturer in Asia, helping to scale mass production efforts.

Porotech’s Strategic Partnership with ClassOne
Porotech’s partnership with ClassOne is aimed at creating a solid and efficient foundation for critical process steps necessary to scale Micro LED production using larger silicon wafers. The company has been collaborating with multiple µLEDoS supply chain partners to overcome the challenges associated with mass-producing Micro LEDs.
Earlier, Porotech established a new semiconductor Micro LED ecosystem in collaboration with key global players, including Foxconn, PSMC, and GIS. This initiative integrates wafer fabrication, hybrid bonding, IC design, packaging, and assembly solutions to accelerate the commercialization of Micro LED microdisplay technology.
Porotech’s Achievements Showcased at SID 2024
At the ongoing SID 2024 exhibition in the U.S., Porotech is showcasing its latest advancements in Micro LED commercialization, featuring products like microdisplays, AR glasses, mini projectors, optical engine modules, HUDs, and HMDs. The company is also demonstrating its PoroGaN materials and back-end processing applications, which cater to various R&D needs from the front end to the end user.
