Positive Outlook for the Micro LED Industry
The Micro LED industry is gaining attention as a promising future trend, and Innolux‘s General Manager, Yang ZhuXiang, remains optimistic about its growth. At Touch Taiwan 2024, held from April 24 to 26 at the Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taiwan with the theme “Lead to Infinity,” the event will feature the debut of the “Electronics Manufacturing Equipment Exhibition.” This exhibition will cover a wide range of categories, including semiconductor packaging and assembly equipment, compound semiconductor materials and equipment, Micro LED manufacturing equipment, electronics manufacturing equipment, and power and storage battery production equipment. Companies and cross-domain partners are invited to collaborate and build an ecosystem to drive new business opportunities through this exhibition.
Micro LED‘s Promising Future Amidst Industry Uncertainty
Commenting on the current state of the Micro LED industry, TDUA Vice Chairman and Innolux General Manager Yang ZhuXiang highlighted that Micro LED remains a promising future trend. Although some companies have recently hit the “pause button,” it is still uncertain whether this will lead to a complete halt. Currently, it represents only a temporary loss of brand leadership, which is somewhat regrettable. However, the long-term outlook suggests that specifications can be developed and retained within Taiwanese companies, potentially promoting Micro LED technology to broader brands and applications, including consumer electronics and automotive uses, enhancing the industry’s leadership potential. While the short-term outlook may appear bearish, the long-term prospects are bullish.

Cost Reduction and Market Expansion for Micro LED
Yang also noted that Micro LED technology follows a similar trajectory to Moore’s Law, with chip costs decreasing significantly. This cost reduction is expected to boost the penetration and adoption of Micro LED technology, leading to a positive outlook for its future development.
Demand Surge for Large LCD TVs
Regarding the demand for large LCD TVs, Yang believes that, with the upcoming Olympics and summer vacations, most large-size TVs will have shipped around April or May. Demand is expected to be further driven by sporting events in the latter half of the year. The trend towards larger screens is beneficial for capacity and the overall supply-demand dynamics in the industry.
Micro LED Opportunities for Mass Production
This year’s Micro LED-themed section at Touch Taiwan will showcase opportunities for mass production, with participation from both global and domestic companies. Key participants include Ennostar, PlayNitride, Hanmin, Contrel, RiTdisplay, Shin-Etsu, Jasper Display Corp, All Ring Tech, Raijie, Toray Engineering, Advanced Pacific, Stork, Coherent, and DaXing Material Technology.
Debut of the Electronics Manufacturing Equipment Exhibition
The inaugural Electronics Manufacturing Equipment Exhibition will bring together top players from across the semiconductor industry chain, including Weihua, UBEC, Heidenhain, Syntech, HongKang, Itest, Chroma ATE, Fansheng, Ching Yi, Accton, Everwide Chemical, Jiu-Tai Technology, Justek, Grandtek, Hwayuan, and Direct Drive Technology. This gathering aims to enhance the global competitiveness of the industry.
