Shanghai Xianyao Display Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as “JBD”) has recently updated its business registration, increasing its registered capital to 55.84 million RMB. A new shareholder, Geely Co-Creation No. 2 Investment Partnership, indirectly controlled by Geely Group, has acquired a 0.97% stake in JBD with a commitment of 440,000 RMB.
On June 5th, JBD detailed its latest financing. The company has successfully completed its Pre-B round of funding, raising hundreds of millions of RMB. This round was led by Ant Group, with Geely Capital participating and existing investor Guangfa Qianhe increasing their support. The funds will be used to enhance JBD’s investment in core Micro LED microdisplay technology research and development, ramp up production, recruit top talent, and expand into global markets.
With this new Pre-B round, JBD has now completed seven rounds of financing since 2021. Notable investors include Samsung, BYD, Alibaba, Geely, and Ant Group.

JBD’s Focus on Micro LED Microdisplay Innovation
Founded in 2015, JBD is headquartered in Shanghai’s Pudong district, with a large-scale production base in Hefei. The company specializes in the development and manufacturing of Micro LEDs under 0.3 inches, leveraging its capabilities in IC design, MOCVD material growth, Micro LED hybrid integration technology, packaging testing, software and hardware driver design, and optical modules.
Since beginning mass production of Micro LED microdisplays in 2021, JBD has consistently achieved a revenue growth rate of over 50%, with total shipments exceeding one million units. The company aims to double its shipment volume by 2024.
Breakthroughs in Micro LED Microdisplay Technology
Recently, JBD has made notable advancements in Micro LED microdisplay performance, introducing new technology platforms and improving near-eye display quality. The company has set new records for brightness, achieving 8 million nits in red light, 1.5 million nits in green light, and over 1 million nits in blue light. It has also launched the Phoenix series, featuring single-chip full-color microdisplay prototypes with a vertical stacking architecture.
Moreover, JBD has developed the industry’s first light waveguide image quality correction device, ARTCs, which addresses color uniformity issues in light waveguide displays. This device, combined with advanced algorithms and light engine calculations, offers real-time correction and optimization.
Expanding Applications for AR and Beyond
JBD has supplied Micro LED microdisplay solutions for over 25 models of AR glasses through its established product lines, which include both monochrome and color Micro LED light engines.
With this Pre-B financing, JBD is set to accelerate the commercialization of its Micro LED microdisplay technology, reinforcing its leadership in AR core components. Looking forward, the company plans to build on its pioneering position in Micro LED microdisplays and leverage the robust production capacity of its Hefei base to deliver innovative AR solutions across the industry.
