Recently, significant progress has been made in the construction of two major Mini LED projects.
1. HKC Mini-LED Backlight/Direct Display Module & System Project Breaks Ground

On February 5th, news from Liuyang City, Hunan Province, China confirmed that one of the first major projects in the city for 2025 has officially commenced, with an investment of ¥9 billion ($1.31 billion). This project focuses on HKC‘s Mini-LED backlight/direct display module and system development.
HKC’s Strategic Investment in Liuyang
The HKC project covers 108 acres and is dedicated to manufacturing Mini-LED backlight modules used in LCD TVs, automotive displays, and Mini-LED direct display units, as well as all-in-one systems. This marks HKC‘s fourth investment in Liuyang, following previous projects such as HKC Optoelectronics, HKC Jinyang, and the HKC Industrial Complex.

Expansion of Production Capabilities
As of now, HKC operates four high-generation G8.6 TFT-LCD production lines, located in Chongqing, Anhui Province, Sichuan Province, and Hunan Province, China. These facilities have already begun mass production of display panels for various applications, including televisions, monitors, laptops, tablets, smartphones, automotive, and industrial control systems. They are continuously expanding into emerging fields such as electronic paper, medical displays, and outdoor signage.

2. Ruihua Optoelectronics: New Mini/Micro LED Production Lines Added

On February 4th, Ruihua Optoelectronics‘ new Mini/Micro LED production workshop in Gedian, Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China saw two production lines operating overtime. This workshop has added 16 new production lines this year, with 9 lines now fully operational and 7 others still undergoing testing.
Overview of New Production Lines
Of the 18 lines, 16 are dedicated to Mini/Micro LED production for backlighting of displays, while 2 lines are specifically for automotive display backlight production.
Ruihua’s Facility Layout and Expansion Plans
Ruihua‘s facility includes a first floor dedicated to Mini/Micro LED production, a second floor for touch-sensitive electronic paper production, a third floor for automotive display LEDs, and a fourth floor under renovation, which will soon be used for automotive lighting production. The fourth-floor facility is scheduled to begin operations later this year, with a projected production capacity of 500 million units.
Growing Demand and Full Order Book
The company reported that the first-quarter orders were already fully booked, with two production lines resuming work on the fourth day of the lunar new year. Each line can produce 15,000 LED light strips per day. By the eighth day, all 9 production lines will be fully operational.
Ruihua Optoelectronics’ New Manufacturing Base
Ruihua Optoelectronics‘ new display manufacturing base has a total investment of ¥5 billion ($725 million) and spans over 200 acres of state-owned land. The total building area is approximately 270,000 square meters. Phase 1 of the project is expected to invest approximately ¥1.5 billion ($217.5 million) and includes expansion of full-color LED packaging, Mini LED backlight packaging, and the establishment of a Micro LED technology research center. Once fully operational, the project will have an annual production capacity of 10.1 billion full-color LED packages, 20 million Mini LED backlight units, and a fully operational Micro LED research center.
Future Growth and Projections
According to company head Ding Daojun, Ruihua has seen its production value rise significantly since its establishment in Gedian, Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China. In 2022, the company’s output value was ¥130 million ($18.85 million), in 2023 it reached ¥310 million ($44.91 million), and in 2024 it is expected to exceed ¥400 million ($57.41 million), with a target of ¥600 million ($86.11 million) in 2025. The company is continually investing in new production lines, with plans to launch a second-phase project and build the largest manufacturing base in Gedian.
