According to the Liuyang Daily report on December 16, HKC’s Mini-LED backlight/Direct View Module and Complete System Project is currently under negotiation, with a total investment of approximately ¥7 billion (around $970 million USD).
Project Overview
From December 12 to 13, Xiao Zhengbo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Changsha Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Liuyang Municipal Party Committee, and Chain Leader of Changsha’s New Display Industry, led a delegation to Shenzhen for a visit to HKC and other key enterprises.
As stated, the ongoing negotiations for HKC’s Mini-LED backlight/Direct View Module and Complete System Project involve a total investment of about ¥7 billion (approximately $970 million USD), covering an area of approximately 116 acres. The annual output value is expected to reach around ¥7 billion (roughly $970 million USD), with products primarily including Mini-LED LCD TV backlight modules, Mini-LED direct-view boxes, and Mini-LED all-in-one systems.
At the meeting, Wang Zhiyong, Chairman and CEO of HKC, stated that the company would seize market opportunities, further increase investments in Liuyang, accelerate the implementation of new projects, and expand existing projects. The goal is to continuously enhance its market share.
HKC’s Continued Focus on MLED
Founded in 2001, HKC specializes in semiconductor display core components and integrated services for intelligent IoT. Its main business is the research and development (R&D) and manufacturing of semiconductor display panels and related intelligent display terminals.
In terms of intelligent display terminals, HKC currently operates display terminal production bases in Chongqing Jinyang, Hefei Jinyang, Guangxi Zhixian, and Yichang HKC, covering a wide range of application scenarios, including televisions, monitors, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, automotive displays, and industrial control displays. Additionally, according to the Liuyang Daily, HKC ranks third globally in LCD panel shipments.
This year, HKC has continued to make significant advancements in the MLED field, particularly in project construction.
In January 2024, Yichang HKC’s first large-size COB display production line began mass production. In May, the Changsha HKC Smart Manufacturing Industrial Complex project neared completion. In October, the company launched a ¥10 billion (around $1.37 billion USD) investment in the Mini-LED and high-power chip thermal management packaging projects. These projects focus on the production of high-end Mini-LED direct-view modules and high-end Mini-LED backlight modules.
