Overview
Today, we introduce the recently unveiled AR glasses: Even Realities G1, a startup project by the former CPO of Nut Projections. This stylish smart eyewear features voice and AI interaction, along with AR display capabilities, and is set to start at an introductory price of $599, with shipping planned for August.
Design and Build Quality
Engineers at Even Realities have leveraged their experience working with luxury eyewear brands like Lindberg and Mykita to craft the G1, emphasizing high-end design, materials (CMF), and manufacturing quality to ensure seamless integration into daily style.
Aesthetic Features
The G1 closely resembles conventional eyewear, showcasing a sleek, slim, and premium appearance.
The frame adopts a classic panto shape, is ultra-thin and lightweight, and is well-balanced.
Material Composition
The use of materials such as magnesium alloy, sandstone coating, titanium alloy, and silicone not only provides a comfortable feel but also effectively manages weight, sturdiness, and flexibility.
The surrounding design enhances comfort and versatility, accommodating a wider range of users.
Innovative Hinge Structure
The patented internal hinge structure eliminates screws at the connection point of the G1’s temples and frame, resulting in a cleaner, streamlined look, while also allowing for smoother and more comfortable folding and unfolding of the temples.
Integrated Technology
The small bump at the end of the temples houses hardware components such as the battery, antenna, and touch sensors. The built-in 160mAh battery supports up to 1.5 days of usage.
Frame Color Options
The G1 is available in gray, green, and brown frames. In addition to prescription and non-prescription lenses, clip-on sunglasses are also offered, enabling easy transition between indoor and outdoor use.
Optical Display
The G1 features a fully adaptive optical system named HAOS, combining a Micro LED display with waveguide lenses.
It utilizes a single green display with a resolution of 640×200, a field of view of 20°, maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, and a refresh rate of 20Hz.
At approximately 2 meters in front of the user, it presents clear visuals and text information.
Prescription Lens Customization
The HAOS optical system also provides a user-friendly prescription lens display solution for nearsighted users. By using a special environmentally-friendly adhesive, the prescription lenses can be closely combined with the waveguide display lenses, eliminating ghosting and rainbow effects, with a transparency rate of 98%.
Thanks to the thin nature of the lenses, even after combining the prescription and waveguide lenses, the overall thickness remains comparable to standard prescription lenses without sacrificing transparency.
Lightweight and User-Friendly
The G1 is undeniably a lightweight AR glasses option.
“We aim to enable users to see the important elements in the fusion of digital and physical realities while maintaining a connection to the surrounding world,” revealed Wang Xiaoyi, founder of Even Realities, reflecting on the G1’s positioning. It provides digital convenience in the physical realm without overly disrupting normal life.
Core Features
In line with this philosophy, the G1 offers functionalities such as note-taking, translation, navigation, prompting, notifications, and AI applications.
Additionally, the G1 comes with its own operating system and user interface—Even OS and UI—accompanied by a mobile app.
Voice and AI Interaction
By pressing the touchpad located at the end of the right temple, users can quickly activate the voice note feature, converting spoken words into text that is displayed in real-time.
Recorded text notes are stored in the app for future reference.
The G1 can also translate conversations in real-time into the user’s native language, displaying the translated text in front of the user. Currently, the G1 supports real-time translation for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, with additional charges based on usage.
Navigation Features
In navigation scenarios, the G1 displays turn-by-turn prompts and distance information right before the user. It also simplifies urban street maps, presenting them in a flat format.
AI Integration
The teleprompter function, combined with AI, allows subtitles to scroll in real-time alongside the user’s speech.
Users can view instant messages on the G1 simply by raising their heads, without needing to open apps or perform additional gestures.
Even Realities has integrated third-party large models for simple AI Q&A on the glasses. Following this, a more feature-rich Even AI is planned for future release.
Upcoming Products
Notably, in addition to the G1 glasses, Even Realities appears to be planning another product, the G1 B, as indicated on their official website.
