On October 29, 2024, during the 2024 TrendForce Self-emissive Display Industry Seminar, Dr. Fang Ziwen, General Manager of AIXTRON, delivered a presentation titled “Challenges and Solutions for μLED Epitaxial Mass Production.”
The prospects for Micro LED display technology are up-and-coming. As the challenges related to mass production are gradually resolved, Micro LED is set to find extensive applications in smartwatches, automotive technologies, AR/VR/MR devices, and high-end televisions.

Planetary Reaction Platform Technology
To manufacture more efficient and cost-effective MOCVD equipment, AIXTRON has developed Planetary Technology. This technology combines the benefits of wafer-level control and batch production, offering improved material uniformity, greater reactor capacity, and compatibility with a wider range of epitaxial sizes. These industry-leading technical capabilities enable AIXTRON to achieve low-cost and high-yield epitaxial wafer production.

Advanced MOCVD Equipment
Based on the Planetary Technology, AIXTRON has introduced two advanced MOCVD systems: the AIX G5+C and the industry’s first fully automated AsP platform, the G10-AsP. These systems can mass-produce 6-inch to 8-inch blue, green, and red Micro LED epitaxial wafers, achieving excellent wavelength uniformity and low defect density. Furthermore, these systems feature maintenance-free automation capabilities, further enhancing production efficiency.

Currently, the AIX G5+C and G10-AsP have gained recognition from numerous domestic and international chip companies, positioning them as crucial tools for advancing current and future Micro LED technology.

Future Outlook
AIXTRON’s efforts are not only focused on enhancing the production efficiency of Micro LED but also on bringing more innovative solutions to the industry. As Micro LED technology continues to advance, AIXTRON will persist in driving the development of epitaxial material production technologies to ensure the widespread adoption of Micro LED across various application fields. We look forward to collaborating with industry peers to embrace the bright future of Micro LED technology.
