Financial Performance and Micro LED Growth Strategy
Contrel Technology Co., Ltd. announced during its investor conference on the 27th that its revenue and profits in the first three quarters of this year showed a decline due to the company’s ongoing transformation. However, Contrel Technology remains optimistic about its future, with active investments in Micro LED and panel-level fan-out packaging (FOPLP) equipment. These efforts are expected to improve its gross margin, and the company anticipates that orders will start to show results in the fourth quarter. It expects two major new products to become key drivers of growth in 2025.
The growth in Micro LED output this year has primarily been driven by large displays. However, as the demand for automotive display applications becomes more defined, and the large display market matures, the Micro LED market is expected to see continued growth in terms of output value.

Expansion of Micro LED Equipment Line
Contrel Technology further emphasized that its Micro LED strategy has evolved from handling mass transfer to enhancing core equipment and expanding both upstream and downstream equipment for the full Micro LED production line. The company expects that by the end of this year, Micro LED equipment revenue will account for approximately 15% of its total revenue. In 2025, this share is expected to increase to 25%, making Micro LED a key growth engine for the company.
FOPLP Advanced Packaging and Market Outlook
In the area of FOPLP advanced packaging, market research institutions forecast a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 38.6% from 2024 to 2033. This growth will be driven by investment from IDM, packaging companies, wafer fabs, IC substrate manufacturers, and panel manufacturers.
Contrel Technology, with its extensive experience in the panel industry, specializes in large-size substrate laser processing. Combined with its optical inspection technology, the company provides comprehensive solutions, including redistribution layer (RDL) laser line repair equipment and glass substrate laser cutting equipment. The company anticipates continued growth in its product line.
