As 2024 approaches, the waves of market competition are quietly surging, with the focus shifting away from price wars and towards creating value. In this challenging yet opportunity-filled blue ocean, leading players in the LED display industry are taking unprecedented steps to examine their strategies and adapt, aiming to stand out in the fiercely competitive market.

Since 2022, Dongguan AET Display Technology Co., Ltd. has keenly sensed the shift in market dynamics and took the lead in initiating its strategic transformation. Today, this transformation has already borne fruit—AET has successfully broken out of the limitations of selling single hardware products and has completed its evolution into a full-product-line integration, creating a comprehensive and multi-dimensional strategic layout in the LED display solutions sector.

This article takes AET as a case study to closely analyze the details of its strategic transformation, providing insights for the industry.

From Hardware Products to Full-Spectrum Solutions

In a competition strategy centered around value, although price competition for single hardware items has not disappeared entirely, its impact is gradually diminishing. In contrast, businesses are increasingly focusing on multi-dimensional competition that includes technology, integrated solutions, and content services.

Based on this, companies are moving in two primary directions. One is to introduce more competitive and differentiated products through technological innovation, thus setting themselves apart from competitors. The other is to enhance product value by offering more comprehensive solutions, combining hardware, systems, software, content, and interaction.

Looking at the broader picture, future competition will shift from individual hardware to integrated solutions with innovative capabilities. Since 2022, AET has been aligning with this trend, continuously adjusting and optimizing its product portfolio.

At the end of 2022, AET officially implemented a product line management model, optimizing product functionality, appearance, and experience, while launching a new audio-visual system solution product line. In 2023, the company successfully established seven product lines, including a “solutions product line.” As of now, its comprehensive LED display solutions cover a full range of products.

Key Features of AET’s Comprehensive LED Display Solutions

    1. Full-Spectrum CoverageAET’s LED display solutions cover six major sectors, including traditional areas like broadcasting studios, command centers, and audio-visual systems, as well as emerging markets such as LED cinemas, XR applications, and naked-eye 3D. The “full-spectrum” layout strategy aims to provide users with more precise and diverse service experiences.
    2. Focus on User ExperienceWith a user-centered approach, the company focuses on designing solutions that are simple, easy to install and maintain, and efficient to operate. For example, in the command center solution, standardized architecture, front maintenance, and modular screen design improve usability and flexibility. In the LED cinema solution, features like seamless integration, remote operation, and uninterrupted power supply simplify processes and ensure functionality.

From single hardware sales to product line integration and now to comprehensive LED display solutions, AET has effectively increased the added value and competitiveness of its products. Its strategy, focusing on full-spectrum solutions with a user-centered approach, reflects the company’s insight into market trends and customer needs.

Leveraging “Display” Power to Build Market Competitiveness

The product strength of LED displays is the core driver of market competitiveness. Comprehensive LED display solutions integrate hardware, software, control systems, and after-sales services. Among these, the LED display screen as the core hardware component is the most significant indicator of the market competitiveness of an LED solution.

AET believes that the product power of LED displays lies in technological innovation and quality control. With this in mind, AET has leveraged its three core advantages to continuously enhance the performance of LED displays, injecting energy into the innovative development of LED display solutions.

    1) Standardized Product Strategy to Ensure Quality

Since 2014, AET has focused on “standardized” R&D. It has successfully launched its fifth-generation standardized architecture, establishing a product system that includes “standard sizes, ratios, resolutions, architectures, and interfaces.” This highly standardized design reduces uncertainty in the production process, improves the consistency of LED display quality and performance, and enhances compatibility, ultimately strengthening the integration capability and overall performance of LED display solutions.

    2) Mastering COB and Micro LED Technologies to Lay the Foundation for High-Performance Products

AET is one of the earliest entrants in the LED small-pitch display industry in China. Currently, the company offers full flip-chip COB packaging technology and QCOB products, allowing for flexible customization of product series. In terms of new display technologies, AET has established a Micro LED industrial research platform and is working with the Suzhou Materials Science Laboratory to develop full-color Gallium Nitride (GaN) red Micro LED. Continued investment in and research on these new technologies will provide the foundation for the high-performance development of LED displays.

    3) Full-Chain Service Ecosystem, Synchronizing Products with Market Needs

As one of the few companies in the industry with a complete LED display supply chain, AET relies on the resources of Lightway Group to build a support system covering everything from LED display architecture design, material selection, and drive technology to packaging testing and final application. With control over the entire supply chain, AET can quickly identify market demand, adjust product strategies in real-time, and ensure that LED products and solutions stay in line with market trends.

The value of comprehensive LED display solutions extends beyond the manufacturing of LED screens. It includes software integration, control system coordination, and service support. In terms of smart features, AET’s solutions can integrate XR, real-time rendering, camera tracking, and remote control technologies. For system and device integration, its LED cinema screen solution integrates management software, playback servers, sending and receiving systems, etc. The all-in-one machine solution integrates computers, TVs, whiteboards, projectors, and video conference terminals, all working in synergy to create market competitiveness.

Furthermore, to further consolidate and expand its competitive advantage, AET has established five service standards centered on globalization, 24/7 support, multi-media, full lifecycle, and comprehensive coverage, providing in-depth support across product, technology, marketing, and management.

Currently, AET’s global service network covers over 90 countries and regions, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, as well as over 400 cities across 34 provinces and autonomous regions in China.

    Conclusion

By deeply integrating product strength, service capacity, and brand power, and expanding into six major application fields, AET has developed a comprehensive LED display solution. This strategic layout not only provides greater commercial value to users, strengthening the market competitiveness of LED products, but also lays a solid foundation for the company’s future growth.

Looking ahead, with the intensifying market competition, driven by Mini/Micro LED technology, AI, and 5G+8K technology, the value competition in the LED display industry remains key. It is expected that AET will continue to unleash the potential of its brand, exploring new possibilities.
